Today, 10 of October, we celebrate the “European Day against the Death Penalty” praising the value of “Rule of Law” underlying at the Charter of Law of the Abolition of the Death Penalty published 153 years ago in Portugal. The document has a strong European’s symbolic value once it encloses many of the values and ideals currently embodied in the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union, namely those based on the values of tolerance, respect for human life and Rule of Law.
